UCCS UX Research Report Project
Project Type
Usability/UX Testing
Started
November 2023
Ended
December 2023
Role
Usability Tester, Project Co-Manager, Data Researcher
As part of a four-person team in a UX Research course during my Junior year, I helped redesign and optimize the UCCS Mechanical Engineering website. Over two months, we worked closely with the lead UX Researcher at UCCS to plan, research, and suggest redesigns for this site in line with our findings.
The project involved creating a team charter for individual responsibilities, a usability dashboard to lay out our timeline, user personas to model our redesign around, and analyzing the website traffic data. We designed and conducted user tests, analyzed pain points from them, created red routes, and synthesized those findings, compiling a 42-page final report for our client. Despite schedule challenges and a team member dropping, we delivered a very thorough analysis and recommendation report, which was praised by our professor and client.
This project marked my first professional client work and significantly shaped my focus in UX research and design, growing my skills in data analytics of user feedback, usability research, and report writing. The slideshow below showcases key stages of the project, with links to the full documents available on the site links page.

In the following section we went into more detail about concerns revealed through our testing data, issues identified, and their implications for the website's design and functionality.
